Death Valley - 100 Year Bloom : Due to weather patterns that dumped a whopping 6 inches of rain in Death Valley this past winter, the subsequent months of February, March and April have been an awesome spectacle of what is known as the "100 Year Bloom." This is a phenomenon in which un-natural rainfall (well, natural every 100 years) literally floods Death Valley. Miles and miles of desolate valley flats become miles and miles of bizzare wading pools, and the hills burst with all sorts of wildflowers, literally carpeting the usually desolate, martian looking hills and landscape.-Matt-

Little Corona Del Mar (Archive) : "Little Corona", which is the smaller southern half of Corona Del Mar State Beach, has been a practicing ground for me in all aspects of photography from macro to landscape, from wildlife to portraits.

I used to visit easily once or twice a week, but as gas prices have risen drastically, I'll be making the 30 minute drive less. I hope you enjoy this gallery. To me, going to this beach and just being there is a pleasant, calming and new experience each time. I've been in good weather, bad weather, and boring, hot, "put away the camera and go swimming" weather. The isolation and serenity can envelop you, taking you away to a distant deserted beach far from civilization...

This will represent my ongoing attempt at documenting the beach as I see it. By no means my best photos, because I do not have the heart to just delete all the "lesser" photos. They are all here for your viewing pleasure, in hopes that if you're ever in the vicinity, you'll join me!
