Hey, everybody!
The photos that you're viewing are my collection of film and digital photographs, created with all manner of different cameras. I invite you to browse my galleries, enjoy the images, and let me know what you think...
I've lived in Irvine, California all my life. I began enjoying photography in high school; it has everything that I am good at AND enjoy doing: It is technical, it is hands-on, and it's an art.
I'm a Wedding photographer with a style that reflects my appreciation for nature- I love dramatic light in the outdoors, I love using scenic, sweeping views in my portraits, and I will of course always love capturing the quiet, subdied moments of emotion...
Being part "geek" I quite enjoy the technical respects of photography, and I enjoy chatting about equipment and trading advice. One of my goals is to some day teach a photography class.
But my "right brain" wins out in the end- "It's not about what you LOOK at, but what you SEE..."
The Outdoors-
"The Great Outdoors" mean a lot to me. I grew up spending a lot of time in the outdoors, both camping with my family and hiking / backpacking in the boy scouts. (Eagle rank) ...Eventually I realized that I had a desire to not only be out in nature where the serenity of God's beautiful creation isolates and refreshes me, but to also record what I see, HOW I see it.
As a nature photographer, and more importantly as someone who enjoys exploration and adventure, I like to "get away from it all". Often, this means going out at a time of day or in weather conditions that find everyone else indoors. I'll be up before sunrise, or out in a snow storm, if it means I'll get the chance to capture something beautiful.
I am particularly fond of the local beaches near my home and the Sierra Nevada mountains, but I also hope to travel as much as possible and photograph locations such as New Zealand, Iceland, Alaska and Madagascar...
I find great inspiration (and feel a kindred appreciation for the outdoors) in the work of other nature photographers such as
Tony Sweet and the late
Galen Rowell...
People And The Outdoors-
Wedding photography has turned out to be such a fun, exciting job. Which is odd, because there is so much pressure and expectation built up around wedding photos! I love it though, and it's hard to imagine a better job than being around happy people and creating art from one of the most memorable days of their lives...
The style that developed in my wedding and portrait photography is rooted in my appreciation for nature. Somehow I feel as if placing people in nature for a photograph can promote an awareness and a care for our beautiful planet...
...But all you need to do right now is enjoy the photographs. And in viewing them, I hope you gain a greater appreciation and awareness for the world around us. Nature is not indestructible, my friends. In fact it's very vulnerable, and by some calculations it's already too late. But I pray that there is still time, and I hope that these images make a difference...
